Day 6

Day 6: Miranda to Matamata via Te Aroha and the St Joseph's School supporters. A big thanks to Mike the water carrier who saw me reading a map and stopped to see if I was ok. Turns out I wasn't and had to double back to stay on the bike path. 37 km to Matamata.

St Joseph's School Te Aroha supporters

Dave (82) is the chairman of the old bridge at Kohukohu? Thames. He still relieves at a school and was an engineer. They are raising funds to restore the lifting mechanism in the old bridge. He manned a stall giving out free drinks for riders.

Andrew and Ali from Wellington are walkers who climbed Te Aroha but got a bit lost and came down by town by the sewage treatment plant. Note the cycling group on the grass by the little building, also from Miranda today.

The compulsory cow shot

Home sweet home. Opal Pools Matamata. I splashed out for a cabin $58
